GradeOrbit vs TeachEdge

Monthly credit pools against one price per script.

Information about TeachEdge checked 19 October 2026

In short

TeachEdge suits departments that want students submitting work for feedback, on a shared pool of credits. GradeOrbit charges one price per script whatever its length, while TeachEdge says scanned scripts and bulk batches may use more credits.

About TeachEdge

TeachEdge is a UK AI marking and feedback tool for KS3, GCSE and A-level across many subjects, sold to teachers, departments and schools. Students can submit typed or handwritten work, and teachers can upload batches of scanned scripts.

What one script costs

One student’s script at four lengths, from a short quiz to a long mock booklet.

TeachEdge does not publish enough to work out a price per script.

GradeOrbit

Individual plans from £5 to £25 a month, for 30 to 180 credits. 1 credit marks one student’s script, whatever its length. Schools pay £10 per teacher a month, billed annually, with unlimited marking and AI detection on every seat.

1 credit per script costs 13.9p–16.7p on a monthly plan used in full, or 20p if you go over your allowance. School seats have no per-script charge.

TeachEdge

£5, £13, £27, £41 or £95 a month for 10, 35, 125, 225 or 600 credits; schools on a quote. TeachEdge says a long typed A-level essay uses about 1 credit.

A credit costs 15.8p to 50p, but TeachEdge says scans and bulk marking may use more than one, so a scanned script cannot be priced by length.

Published accuracy

Studies differ in subject, exam board, sample size and who ran them, so read the figures side by side rather than as a ranking.

GradeOrbit

  • GCSE Maths (Pearson Edexcel): 96% of marks within 1 mark of the senior examiner, agreement score (QWK) 0.92, across 69 marks.
  • GCSE English (Eduqas): 83% of marks within 1 mark of the senior examiner, agreement score (QWK) 0.96, across 98 marks.

Measured 18 October 2026 on exam board exemplar scripts. We ran the study ourselves; the method and limits are on our accuracy page.

TeachEdge

TeachEdge ran its own pilot on 14 October 2026: 67 Pearson Edexcel A-level Economics answers compared with published examiner awards. It matched the examiner’s mark exactly on 46.3% and came within 2 marks on 82.1%, an average difference of 1.21 marks. It says the pilot has not been independently reviewed.
