GradeOrbit vs MarkIt

Per-page maths marking against per-script pricing, at real script lengths.

Prices and information about MarkIt checked 25 October 2026

In short

MarkIt is cheaper for short maths papers. At the 20-page median paper it quotes, the two cost about the same, and a 40-page mock costs less on GradeOrbit, which charges per script and marks every subject.

About MarkIt

MarkIt is a UK AI marking tool for secondary maths departments. You upload handwritten or digital scripts with an AQA, Edexcel or OCR scheme, or your own, and it charges by the page.

What one script costs

One student’s script at four lengths, from a short quiz to a long mock booklet.

GradeOrbit

Individual plans from £5 to £25 a month, for 30 to 180 credits. 1 credit marks one student’s script, whatever its length. Schools pay £10 per teacher a month, billed annually, with unlimited marking and AI detection on every seat.

1 credit per script costs 13.9p–16.7p on a monthly plan used in full, or 20p if you go over your allowance. School seats have no per-script charge.

MarkIt

10 papers (200 pages) free every month, then one-off packs: £5.99 for 600 pages or £24.99 for 3,000. Paid pages never expire. School and trust prices are not yet published.

From 0.8p a page (the £24.99 pack) to 1p a page (the £5.99 pack), with the pack used in full. MarkIt counts a page as one side of one student’s response.

Published accuracy

Studies differ in subject, exam board, sample size and who ran them, so read the figures side by side rather than as a ranking.

GradeOrbit

  • GCSE Maths (Pearson Edexcel): 96% of marks within 1 mark of the senior examiner, agreement score (QWK) 0.92, across 69 marks.
  • GCSE English (Eduqas): 83% of marks within 1 mark of the senior examiner, agreement score (QWK) 0.96, across 98 marks.

Measured 18 October 2026 on exam board exemplar scripts. We ran the study ourselves; the method and limits are on our accuracy page.

MarkIt

MarkIt says 98.6% of question marks fall within 1 mark of the teacher’s, on an internal teacher-marked GCSE and A-level maths benchmark dated June 2026. It does not give the sample size or exam boards.
